Love the One You’re With

John Kisses Linda in Front of the Eiffel Tower

People who have actually died and then come back to life report an experience, or feeling or sense that they were confronted with two questions as they made their transition. They were:

  1. What did you learn in this lifetime and
  2. How did you expand your capacity to love

Why not expand your capacity to live right now – this Valentine’s Day? Here’s a great way:

Tell your loved one, “I love you so very much. And while I show you my love in ways that might work for me, I need to know – what lets YOU know that YOU are loved by me? What could I do or say that would unequivocally tell you how much I cherish you?

Get specifics. Does he want you to TELL him with words? Does she like for you to simply LOOK into her eyes with that special look? Does he like for you to hug him for no reason? Does she like little notes, cards or gifts?

My amazing husband, John Scalzi (a/k/a the Weather Muffin) thought I liked cards – with heartfelt messages inside, which I do! And he has given me a lot of great ones. But MORE than that, I love it when he kisses me for absolutely no reason at all (see the picture above where he clearly is practicing!)  But I also learned that HE feels loved by ME when I acknowledge him for all the things he does.  So tomorrow, I’ll be giving him a handwritten list called, the Top 25 Reasons Why I Love and Appreciate YOU!

Yes, love the one you’re with – the way that THEY want to be loved!
