“Stand here, bite down on the mouth piece and take a step forward,” the dental assistant said as she put me in the zippy 3D panoramic x-ray machine.  It was clear she wasn’t thrilled to be doing this since I was being seen on an emergency basis right at closing time and this was making her stay late.  I did as she asked.

The Most CRITICALLY IMPORTANT JOB for Patient/Customer Service Providers

I’m a high maintenance dental patient. That’s right - a motivational speaker who is a high maintenance dental patient. It’s almost an oxymoron. But it’s true. I just think about going to the dentist and my left eye starts twitching. And what makes this really fascinating is that I am also the (self-proclaimed) World’s Most Experienced Dental Patient. Name a procedure and I’ve probably had it done - more than once. So you’d think I’d be over it by now. Yeah, right. I’m not.

"Happy energy,” the director responded when I asked why he selected me as one of the actors for the newest Coors Beer national commercial.  He had auditioned over one thousand actors for the ten very small (3 second) principle on-camera roles, one of which I had gotten.

How To Deal With An Election Outcome You Hate

Okay, first of all, I admit it. I am a motivational speaker who focuses a LOT on the power of creating happiness in spite of your circumstances. I talk to people about how life is never about what happens to you, but rather what you choose to do about it. I mean, Viktor Frankl, psychiatrist, Holocaust survivor, and author of Man’s Search for Meaning, painted a very vivid picture of how he made it through unimaginable horrors while imprisoned in concentration camps by thinking about his wife, whom he dearly loved.

I felt like I was the lead actor in a surreal reality television show. A show about the real-life, almost unbelievable customer service experiences of a motivational speaker who just happens to talk about how to provide exceptional customer service.  Grab your popcorn.

You Gotta Love That Back Fat

By Linda Larsen - Wednesday, October 22, 2014

I'm a motivational speaker - which means I'm going to tell you to love yourself no matter what. I even published an audio series entitled 12 Secrets to High Self-Esteem wherein I go into great detail about exactly how to do that. But here's the deal. Like all fantastic ideas that will change your life for the better, while they may be SIMPLE, they are not always EASY. In fact, this very morning I found myself looking in the mirror and snarling at my...okay, here it comes...back fat.

The Million Dollar Secret to Business Success

I am pitiful when it comes to hanging on to prescription glasses. Absolutely pitiful. In the last month I bought FOUR pair of prescription glasses. One for distance, one for reading and two sunglasses. And in the same month, I lost BOTH pair of the sunglasses - one on an airplane (motivational speakers fly a LOT!) and the other one, I think, grew legs and ran away from home. Regardless, yesterday it was time to go BACK to Lenscrafters and get another pair of prescription sunglasses. I was not happy. I did not want to spend more money. I was grinding my teeth all the way there.

Motivational speakers are supposed to be extremely positive, upbeat and "unstoppable." They are supposed to be the very picture of happiness and success.  They are supposed to tell you how you can do anything - if you just put your mind to it.
