I am pitiful when it comes to hanging on to prescription glasses. Absolutely pitiful. In the last month I bought FOUR pair of prescription glasses. One for distance, one for reading and two sunglasses. And in the same month, I lost BOTH pair of the sunglasses - one on an airplane (motivational speakers fly a LOT!) and the other one, I think, grew legs and ran away from home. Okay - so I am a motivational speaker NOW - but I used to be a professional actress, performing on stages in lots of plays where the characters were VERY colorful and the costumes were straight from periods of long ago.  I remember rehearsing for weeks learning all the nuances of my character, but it wasn't until we started rehearsing in costumes - that the magic really began to happen.  I remember playing the role of Celia in As You Like It and what happened when I first put on the costume. As a motivational speaker for women, I am totally clear that I teach the things I need to learn. I haven't "arrived." I'm not speaking from some platform in the sky. I'm in the trenches, making mistakes and, hopefully, learning as I go. And today I had a delicious "aha" moment.

Thanks and Thanks and Ever Thanks

By Linda Larsen - Tuesday, June 11, 2013

William Shakespeare could have been a motivational speaker in his time, because wow - did he have a way with words. In Twelfth Night, Sebastian doesn't merely toss a casual "thanks" in Antonio's direction after he has been extended such kind concern and thoughtfulness. Instead he says, "I can no other answer make but thanks, and thanks, and ever thanks."
